About

My name is Sascha Friesike. I am an academic researcher, professor for »Designing Digital Innovations« at the Berlin University of the Arts, where I am in charge of a part-time master program called »Leadership in digital Innovation«. I am also a director of the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society, where I have a research group investigating changes in academic knowledge practices.

In my research I mostly study how new things come to life. I explore this in a range of settings from scientific knowledge creation to innovation and creativity. I am currently hosting a social science program called »Menschen und Muster« in collaboration with Berlin’s public broadcasting station rbb.

I hold a Ph.D. from the University of St.Gallen and a diploma in industrial engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) from the Technical University in Berlin. I was a researcher in Stanford at the Center for Design Research, a professor for innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Würzburg, and an assistant professor at the VU University in Amsterdam where I was part of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation.
